Been a while again… Lots of things going on and an absolutely bare minimum of time: MANGAIJIN ~memories~ came out via Blurb.com just in time for COMICDOM CON ATHENS 2011 (more on that in a future post), over the past two months I have written two new detective stories (“Culture Pop” and “The Gargoyle’s Song”), one set to come out in May and the other (probably) June, then there was COMICDOM CON, of course, as well as the lengthy reports that followed it.

That said, just a week after the convention, we got together with a couple of friends and hosted a charity music event for the victims of the recent earthquake, tsunami and danger of radioactive exposure from the reactor on Fukushima (where radiation levels have now reached those of the Chernobyl disaster, although the contamination is not as widespread).

The whole idea was first mentioned by Kyoshiro around a month ago and after a get-together, KrizD, N8, Bloody K. and myself were on board (as well as Kami, added later). Details on the event were posted on Facebook, a number of blogs, Anime.gr, communicated via posters, as well as a donation box, placed at the entrance of the Hellenic-American Union, over the three days of the comic book convention.

Although we encountered a number of problems at the beginning of the event, with a bit of obsessive compulsion, divine intervention and the presence of one Alexander Markezis, CFO of a corporation known only as “Tremere”, we were able to get the whole thing off the ground. I would like to take a moment and thank all of you who attended this very special event, thereby showing true affection for this country, whose culture we so cherish. Even at the outset, there were those who said that it was meaningless, that any amount we gathered would be insignificant in the face of the disaster, or by comparison to Japan’s economy. I said it then and I say it now: no amount of help is meaningless. No, it won’t save Japan, it won’t even be noticed by anyone other than those who receive the help, but, in this case they are all we care about, the only thing that matters. It is what we could do, so we did it. Pure and simple.

As we speak, the amount collected has been used to buy clothes for children in the struck areas, which will be then distributed via a local relief group in Fukushima. Again, thank you all for being there.

As for the event itself, our roster and succession at the decks was a bit wacky, with KrizD starting, followed by Kami, followed by myself and finally, our lovely freak, N8. We also had a small exhibition at Da Sein’s basement, comprised of photos from various areas struck by the three calamities, as well as art from all over the world, drawn in support of Japan. Furthermore, Kyoshiro selected some pieces from the blog Voices From Japan which consist Tweets from and related to the situation in the country. I translated the texts into Greek and Kyoshiro was in charge of editing, printing and setting up our exhibits.

Με αφορμή αυτά τα γεγονότα, αποφασίσαμε να διοργανώσουμε μια φιλανθρωπική μουσική βραδιά, προκειμένου να μαζευτούν χρήματα και να αγοραστούν προμήθειες που θα αποσταλούν στην Ιαπωνία κατόπιν συνεννοήσεως με τοπικούς φορείς. Πολλοί ίσως πουν ότι μια μικρή ανεξάρτητη κίνηση δεν θα κάνει τη διαφορά, αλλά αυτό είναι κάτι που μπορούν να το κρίνουν μόνο οι πληγέντες και τα σωστικά συνεργεία. Εμείς απλά ανήκουμε σε ένα ευρύτερο σύνολο ανθρώπων που τρέφει μεγάλη αγάπη και σεβασμό για τον ιαπωνικό πολιτισμό και θέλουμε να το δείξουμε εμπράκτως αυτήν την κρίσιμη ώρα.

Σας περιμένουμε λοιπόν στις 15 Απριλίου στο Da Sein (Σολωμού 12, Εξάρχεια) και ώρα 20:00, όπου θα σας ψυχαγωγήσουν με ιαπωνική μουσική από τα decks οι ραδιοφωνικοί παραγωγοί του indieground radio (Bloody K. KrizD, Mr. Loof, N8), σε συνεργασία με τους Speedgrapher και Kami. Η συγκεκριμένη εκδήλωση δεν ανήκει στη συνήθη κατηγορία των J-party, αλλά αποτελεί μια έμπρακτη προσευχή για τους ανθρώπους που δοκιμάζονται αυτή τη στιγμή στην άλλη άκρη του κόσμου.

Given the disaster in Japan, on 11/03/2011 (the earthquake, tsunami, as well as the ongoing danger of radioactive poisoning), we have decided to organize an event, in order to support the country whose culture we love so much. It is a music event but not your usual J-Party, since it is intended as a fund-raiser: our target is to raise money, in order to send help (in the from of provisions and materials) to those struck by the disaster, as well as the rescue crews. The line-up of DJs includes radio producers of indieground radio (Ν8 + Bloody Κ, KrizD + Mr. Loof), Speedgrapher and Kami. We must stress that this is not a cosplay party and we would rather it were avoided (although there is no dress code or anything).

After all these years,I started to have a problem with the tremolo locking screws.The turns from the screw were destroyed after so many times,so the allen key did not work.I cut a little bit the problematic screw as you can see on the pics and now I can uses any ordinary screwdriver for changing my strings.

It's a Cornell Romany Plus. Fantastic (but pricey) amp by Dennis Cornell. I will review it thoroughly with KrizD (when I can find the time!), but for now have a look at the pictures from the first photoshoot right out of the box.

Wow the title sound so serious and heavy!!!
Well my friends I decided to post from now on to this blog some tips,secrets,technical,melodical and other weird stuff from my music archive as contribution to the world.
I am not Steve Vai (maybe close enough though muaxaxa) but I hope that you will find some things very useful for your technical playing.

All the posts will be from my own personal archive,books,scores,internet stuff that I have collected from my music school days till now.
I will post some basic stuff first and later some intermediate and advanced.
So we will have Beginner-Intermediate-Advanced level. Maybe sometimes not in that particular order,it depends on the mood.

All these will be as a general idea course in music and how to learn chords,scales,notes,voicings etc and combine them all together.No one will tell you how to make your own songs,just learn and use your imagination.

Today I had a guitar session and a noiseless cord was damaged. How could it be?

I had it connected to the Pod XTlive and the signal was so low and had intermissions on the sound.I changed cord and everythings was fine.

Well, everyone is getting ready for NAMM 2010 starting next weekend & companies have been slowley leaking out information on their new products to appear...

All this excitement has made me postpone buying my new amp -the amp of the decade as I plan to stick to that for about 10 years (yeah right!).

Seriously, the Handsome Devil with new Electroharmonix Tubes is soooo nice I honestly didn't want to give it away. But the time has come for me to get a new amp - a more serious one - INCLUDING REVERB!!!

So the heat is on for the look oout of the new tube amp for the living room :D, there have been several diverse contenders, but when my search is over details of the selection process will be posted.

Until then all I have to say is merry (& potentially loud) christmas to the dude that took my blackheart away///
